Re: Going to the Gym
It's just down the street from my office, not been there but he's there most days from what I've been told.

One of the kids at the gym I go to sparred with him before the Paquiauo fight, said he's a nice guy when off camera, gave loads of advice.

Got a trip to LA booked so going to stop by the Wild Card gym where Cotto trains & go to Big Bear Summit Gym where Golovkin trains.

You ever managed to get inside Mayweathers gym ?

Bucket list material for me mate. Not that I`d ever envisage being lucky enough to actually bump into the man himself whilst there :-)

...and to follow on from that I'm firmly of the opinion that it aint so much about what you do, its about doing it regularly for a prolonged period of time. Particularly when your goal is just to lose weight.

Re: Going to the Gym
the key for me is to see going to the gym as like your job, you dont think about going you just do it. Also go straight after work without stopping whilst you are still in work mode.

Be HARD like me and sign up for a boxing gym.

Cycling.
Bought a cheap hybrid bike about 3 years ago on the random (hadn't been on a bike since I was a kid). Used it for work to save money on travel, so it paid itself off after 4 months in which time I'd lost a stone and a half. Got decent calfs and thighs as an added bonus to my zero travel costs.

More recently I got a CX bike (drop down bars). Took a few days to get used to, but it's pushed my effort right back up. It's more fun, in and out the saddle more, faster speeds etc.

I used to have a gym membership years ago but I would go through spells of a few weeks going, then nothing for months and eventually gave it up because it's fucking boring. Full of wankers. Takes too much time. Just boring.

Cycling I've loved because I've seen all sorts of places i didn't even know about, got plenty sun, seeing the outdoors, saving money on work commute, saving time on work commute so I actually have MORE spare time.

Fuckin bingo!

Wish I'd done it years ago.

Bigot

Good luck mate, hope you keep it up and don't lose interest..

The key is to enjoy it. If you find it an endurance you'll start finding excuses to stop.

Having someone to train with makes a big difference but if you are a miserable git with no mates (like me) you have to find some other way to keep the motivation up.

Re: Going to the Gym
I have got a bench and free weights and made a small space in a room and I wish I had done this years ago instead of paying sums for gym membership. Also have no excuses for not doing exercise now. And don't have all the teenagers annoying me with "have you finished with that yet!" so many cunts in the gyms these days.

Haha Marston! Whilst it would be against my policy to name anyone, I'll be honest and say that in most cases, they aren't too well known....but...certainly in some of the actors cases, the point is to get then more 'marketable' and I'm happy to say that one of them has recently been offered a decent film role.

The most interesting I guess is conditioning work I do with the son of a legend currently making headlines!

Re: Going to the Gym
Look into things such as carb cycling for diet. Weight training, I've enjoyed things like German Volume Training in the past ( 10 sets of ten ), or time under tension, drop sets etc.

Carb cycling will be minimal carbs on rest days, and ideally no carbs before your workouts. Your body needs to replace it's glycogen stores post workout, so this is the most effective time to use carbs as an energy source.

I tend to have "healthy fats" for breakfast for a sustained release of energy in the morning.. 2/3 poached eggs, maybe some greens.

A double espresso before weight training as a substitute for a pre workout to spike your insulin levels.

"Fasted cardio" is good to for fat loss. I don't get to do it that often as I start work early in the morning. I tend to train around lunchtime, and break up my lunch into 2 parts to be consumed either side of the workout, with the carbs coming post work out.

The bodycoach is pretty good re diet and training.. lots of clips and recipes on facebook and Instagram.

I've lost a stone and a half in the last two months purely be eating less shit between meals, playing badminton a couple of times a week and using a cross-trainer two or three times a week.

Oh, and only drinking twice a week.

Garth Algar,
I'll wait to hear some names before I'll allow you to show off.

If you've been working with James Corden, Phil Taylor & Miranda Hart I won't be particularly impressed.

Oh, and just so I can show off for a second I have been a strength and conditioning coach for 15 years and have worked with many boxers, footballers and actors. Go me!

Not always true matey. Depends on the individual mainly but I always found the best formula for growth is really heavy compounds with a low rep range and higher reps for isolations.

Always a good starting point but as time goes on its good to change up regularly.
